In the latest issue of Streaming Media Magazine, Tim Siglin talks about cord cutters and how this year will be big for antennas. We might be a little biased, but we have to agree with his findings! The main reasons are convenience, catalog and cost.
Scott Karemer’s Forbes article reviews Antennas Direct antennas. Tim, and Scott, discuss the growth in over-the-air TV channels available today, thanks to the rise in digital networks available, also known as subchannels. Scott was able to get over 50 channels from his house, and new channels are popping up all the time!
Now, let’s point out the picture quality. Typical cable channels broadcasts hover around 5.5 Mbps. Over-the-air content is broadcast in 720p, meaning the signal with an HDTV antenna comes through crystal clear and looking better than you ever thought possible.
In the article, Tim also talks about our TV Liberation Bus Tour: where the bus traveled, the mission of the tour and our partnership with the NAB. The TV Liberation Bus Tour is meant to inform consumers that they can access dozens of local broadcast TV channels via an advanced digital TV antenna in high-definition, for free. Having the support of the NAB means so much to us, and we look forward to getting back on the road and spreading awareness, and free antennas, again this year.
All in all, it looks like the cord cutting trend will continue to grow in 2017, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it! The more people cutting the cord, the more money Americans are putting back into their pockets, and therefore, back into the economy. That is something we can support wholeheartedly!
