Cox Communications is raising its cable-TV rates for standard service, the one used by most of its Rhode Island customers, by 9.4 percent beginning April 15.
The rate will rise by $5, from $52.99 per month to $57.99 per month. The rates are also going up for Cox’s entry-level package, called limited-basic service, by $3 a month. In most communities, the basic service price will go from $16.99 per month to $19.99
Cox last increased its cable rates on March 1, 2010. At the time, limited-basic service jumped about 30 percent in most communities, with standard service rising 8 percent.
Cox has declined to say how many customers it has in Rhode Island, but it is one of the major cable providers in the state.
