Cox Communication is currently in the process of transitioning to an all-digital cable system. This requires what they are calling a Cox Mini Box. They even have a video on their website explaining what it means to go all-digital with a big fat “caution” to their customers stating “if you don’t make the change to those wall connected TV’s, you’ll lose TV service…completely.” Furthermore, customers will now have to pay an additional $2.99 a month per Cox mini box for something you can already get for FREE over the air.
Here’s a little history lesson. Over the air television has been digital since 2009. Why has it taken 6 years for Cox to catch up? And why are they charging you for something you’ve been able to get for free all these years?
Here is what Cox claims are their benefits.
Cox: You will receive local channels in HD
Reality: You can get that, for FREE, with a TV antenna
Cox: Better picture quality
Reality: You get that, for FREE, with a TV antenna
Cox goes a step further trying to scare their customers into believing that paying for television is the only way to live, by publishing an article titled “What Cutting the Cord Could Cost You“. They must really think their customers are stupid. We know better. We know you’re smart and not willing to put up with their abuse any longer.
Moral of the story:
You’re already paying too much for cable. Don’t give these money hungry monsters another dime of your hard earned cash. Cut the cord and save thousands of dollars. It’s a holiday gift to yourself!
