Louis Cooper at the Pensacola News Journal suggested that Santa Rosa County, Pensacola Beach and south Alabama locals can put away their antennas now that WEAR-TV and Medicom have reached an agreement to keep WEAR-TV on the air for Mediacom subscribers. But the deal only is for one year before the renegotiation period starts up all over again. And back in 2007 the negotiations did result in a disruption in service.
Plus, as we are seeing all across the country, deals like this one are usually resulting in higher paid television subscription rates. (See our article on recent rate hikes in the Midwest and nationwide.) Why not ditch the on again off again stations and switch to an antenna?
