The NBC affiliate in Huntsville invited us out to the station and even had me as a guest on the Noon newscast. We gave a away about 100 antennas (mostly C1s) to area viewers.
They were motivated to put powerful antennas in to the hands of their viewers as WAFF is one of the more difficult stations to pick up in the area.
They have one of the lowest powered transmitters in the market and their transmitting antenna is on the middle of the tower instead of on the top. The good news is the FCC gave them permission to increase their power from 40KW to 300KW, and coupled with raising their antenna to the top of the tower should make things a lot easier for area viewers. Now they just need to come up with the $500K cost of the new transmitter, which may mean another 6 -12 months before they are able to turn up the power.
